IT'S NOT FOR SALE! (05/29/2012)

Let's send a message on Election Day - It's Not For Sale!

Our County is NOT For Sale to Insiders

Fellow Riverside County Voters,

Next Tuesday, June 5th, let’s tell the old guard that 20 years is enough – it’s time for a change.

I believe we are ready for a fresh start and this next Tuesday is key to that new beginning in the First District.

Organizations like the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers’ Association, California Small Business Association, and the Riverside County Farm Bureau see my campaign as the best opportunity to beat back the union campaign and fight for jobs, private property rights and institutional reform in Riverside County.

The 20 year Incumbent Bob Buster has taken a number of ill-advised cheap-shots at my campaign. He attempted to claim that I'm in bed with the unions. Then the facts hit.

Bob Buster's 2012 campaign received contributions from four (4) unions and criminal defense attorneys.

Kevin Jeffries' 2012 campaign received a contribution from just one (1) association of criminal prosecutors.

The Incumbent then fired some more wild shots at my campaign falsely claiming that I blocked pension reform.

Then the facts hit yet again.

Bob Buster claims to be leading the fight on pension reform, yet records and estimates by the media indicate that the 20-year Incumbent has amassed the largest known public employee pension for a County Supervisor in the history of Riverside County! $139,000 and climbing (if re-elected). Bob Buster also claimed to be leading the fight to cut salaries and perks - yet Bob was the single highest paid Supervisor last year at $170,000!

The facts show that I have repeatedly proposed and/or supported statewide pension reform efforts that would help save our entire state! I have also made it clear that upon my election I won't accept a public employee pension -- period.

The big question still must be answered- - who will actually protect taxpayers from new or increased taxes?

This is where the 800lb gorilla in the room becomes a big problem for my opponent.

Bob Buster doesn’t want you to know that in March, 2011 he cast the deciding vote to endorse a major tax and (soft on crime) realignment proposal—He even sued to keep voters from learning about it in the election guide! The fact is, Buster went on record supporting a $58 billion dollar tax INCREASE to our car taxes, sales taxes and our income taxes. This misguided proposal has also led to 1,500 prisoners already being given early release from our county jails and back into our communities.

In closing, we are at a point where Riverside County needs to reform and reorganize its bureaucracy. We need to focus on rolling-out the welcome mat to job creation right here in Riverside County. Let’s get our friends and families off the freeways and bring jobs to Riverside County. I hope that you agree with the need for a new direction and enthusiasm in the First District office.

I've fought for needed reforms and against new taxes at both the state and local level. On Tuesday, June 5th let’s remind our county government that they work for us - we don't work for them. I respectfully ask for your vote.
