Jeffries Named Legislator of the Year by State Firefighters Association
Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries, R-Lake Elsinore, is honored by the California State Firefighters' Association.
Murrieta's State Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries, R-Lake Elsinore, was honored this past week by California's leading fire service organization.
The California State Firefighters' Association presented Jeffries with the "Legislator of the Year" award for his leadership in working to help firefighters and improve California's emergency preparedness and disaster response.
He was given the award during the association's annual legislative reception.
"We are proud to present Assemblyman Jeffries with our 'Legislator of the Year' award," said CSFA President Kevin Nida. "...His personal history as a volunteer firefighter has given him insights and a passion for public safety that has benefited our state greatly."
CSFA represents more than 24,000 paid, volunteer, military and industrial firefighters, members of the California Department of Forestry, United States Forest Disaster Office, Office of Emergency Services (Fire and Rescue Division), State Fire Marshal's Office, State Fire Service and Training Program and California state-employed firefighters.
"I'm very honored to be recognized by the California State Firefighters Association," said Assemblyman Jeffries, in a news release.
"I admire what these men and women do every day for our communities. I spent 29 years of my life as a volunteer firefighter, so being honored by the organization representing our frontline firefighters means a great deal to me.
"I believe that maintaining essential public safety services is the first responsibility of the government."
Assemblyman Jeffries represents Western Riverside County and Northern San Diego County, including the communities of Jurupa, Riverside, Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, Murrieta, Temecula, Fallbrook, Bonsall, Valley Center and Julian.
